Private equity firm The Carlyle Group said Monday it has agreed to acquire The Mill, an advertising visual effects company with offices in the United States and the United Kingdom.

D.C.-based Carlyle, along with management of The Mill, will acquire the company for an undisclosed amount. The Mill has more than 150 people at a 30,000-square-foot production facility in London. It also has offices in New York and Los Angeles.

The Mill was founded in London in 1990 by Robin Shenfield and Pat Joseph. Both have committed to remain with the business, whose clients include Sony PlayStation, Honda and Guinness.

The acquisition was made through Carlyle's technology fund, Carlyle Europe Technology Partners.
