Panda Bear

Israeli animator Ori Tori’s fantastic, but unofficial, video for “Alsatian Darn” by Panda Bear, off of their album Tomboy.

björk: crystalline

It's probably because I am back in art school getting my MFA, but I am not inspired by any commercial animation these days.  Send me anything you think is top notch because I am not finding it.  Love this Bjork video though.

Wheels and Love

Massimo Ottoni hand painted every frame on glass, gets really good around 1:10

From the muscician:

The video is an animation by artist/animator Massimo Ottoni. Massimo used an experimental animation technique called “paint-on-glass”. Every single frame is hand painted on glass (he’s been locked away in his camera room for months). I recorded the first half of the song singing and playing directly in my mobile phone, in the garden, and then added the rest of the arrangement in my home studio.

I am an independent Italian singer-songwriter. My primary instrument is the guitar, but I play almost everything I need to record my songs: piano, bass guitar, banjo, drums.  Dream Song, the opening song of my first self-released album (Dreamsongs).

Ramona Falls - 'I Say Fever'

I posted this on my other blog,
but it's so darn good I had to put it here too.
I cannot find out who did it, so if you know...
please post in comments!

Epilouge:  I have such smart readership!  Directed and Animated by Stefan Nadelman, Produced by Tourist Pictures.  I checked out his other work and while good, none of it compares to this piece.  When one of these ad companies finds this guy, he is gonna blow up.

Reloaded - Baskerville

I am amazed at how much stop mo is being produced these days!
The tank shooting popcorn is really clever.

Animated & Directed by Marieke Verbiesen, who has been animating this music video in a basement for seven months!

In this playful stop motion animated music video monsters move to the beats & melody of the music. The characters come into existence after a failure in a laboratory, from which they manage to escape and find their way into the city, leaving a path of destruction behind.  For this music video modern day remote controlled animatronics were used in combination with classic stop motion animation techniques in order to bring colorful cartoon like characters to life.

More about the video.

This is a lot of fun... this piece looks better than most
commercials out there and they are students!

People send me links to post on the blog all the time.  Most of them are just not very impressive.  This particular piece isn't necessarily CG driven, but I enjoyed watching it from a purely visual standpoint.  It has a nice mix of cinematic choices, deign and editing.

Created by stop motion animating clay on glass,
the film is a meditation on motion and the life cycle of matter…

• Watch the project spread around the world!

Gorillaz Stylo Video

The new Gorillaz Stylo Video is awesome.

The video follows fictional Gorillaz bassist Murdoc Niccals on a raucous journey away from his new home on Plastic Beach where antics inevitably ensue. Murdoc's new stomping grounds can now be thoroughly explored with the launch of www.Gorillaz.com relocated from the now defunct Kong Studios to the band's newly constructed island hideaway at Plastic Beach.

Stylo is directed by Jamie Hewlett and produced by Cara Speller for Zombie Flesh Eaters, with live action through HSI Productions in Los Angeles, and animation by Passion Pictures in London.Plastic Beach will be released on March 8th; but Stylo is available for download now.
